Skyhunter can change how a Rogue feels in high-level Diablo 4, especially when Rapid Fire or Penetrating Shot is doing most of the work. Its critical-hit effect gives those builds a dependable opening burst instead of making every fight feel like a coin toss. If you're rebuilding around the bow, it helps to sort your other D4 items first, then focus on the routes that feed directly into Skyhunter's sources. The quickest approach isn't one activity repeated blindly. It's a loop that keeps boss access, crafting materials, and spare bows moving at the same time.

Start with Lord Zir

Lord Zir is still the clear first stop because Skyhunter sits in his personal reward pool. Find him at the Ancient Seat in the Darkened Way, Fractured Peaks, and make each visit count. The useful part of War Plans is that they cut down dead time between objectives. Set up five endgame activities that you can clear comfortably, finish them in order, and collect Lair Keys as you go. Those keys open the reward chest after the fight, so a stocked key supply means you can stay on the Zir route rather than bouncing across the map for one more entry.

Use Blood when runs go cold

Don't let Exquisite Blood sit in storage. Five pieces can go into the Horadric Cube's Amalgamation recipe in Temis, giving you another pull from Lord Zir's Unique pool. That matters after a stretch of rough boss rewards. You're still aiming at the same pool, but you're using materials already earned instead of treating each Zir clear as the only shot. Run your War Plan, take down Zir, then check whether you've built enough Blood for an Amalgamation attempt. It's a simple rhythm, and it makes dry streaks feel less wasteful.

Keep a second route ready

The Cube can also turn a Common bow into a Unique bow. This route casts a wider net, since any Unique bow may appear, but it's worth using alongside the focused Zir work. Pick up white bows whenever they drop, and spend Obols with the Purveyor of Curiosities when your stash is thin. Some players also reduce suitable Ancestral bows to Common quality by removing their affixes, then use those bases in the recipe. Think of this as extra rolls between boss sessions, not a replacement for the boss pool.

What each route contributes

RouteWhat you spendWhy it helps
Lord ZirLair KeysDirect access to Skyhunter's source pool
AmalgamationFive Exquisite BloodExtra pull from Lord Zir's Unique pool
Bow upgradeCommon bows and Cube materialsUseful supplementary Unique-bow rolls
Make the loop sustainable

Begin with War Plans because they supply the keys that keep Lord Zir available. Save every Exquisite Blood stack for periodic Cube use, and collect Common bows without overthinking it. That order keeps the targeted route at the center while the other two add chances around it. A player who keeps all three moving will usually see more meaningful attempts per session than someone relying on a single source. If you need to fill out a Rogue setup while chasing the bow, cheap D4 items can help cover missing slots, leaving your materials and time pointed at Skyhunter.
